More time to surrender PGET seats
Medical students have now more time to surrender government quota seats taken under the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET).
The Rajiv Gandhi University Health Sciences has already announced that a second round of PGET counselling will be held in July, giving ample time to students to surrender their seats.
In order to prevent widespread blocking of medical seats at counselling, the previous government had introduced a rule to fine students Rs five lakh (PG courses) and Rs 2.5 lakh (PG Diploma courses) to reclaim original documents if they failed to surrender the respective seats before the first round of counselling.
The relaxation in rules will help students who can apply under the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (Comed-K) has notified that students who appeared for the first round of counselling can appear for the second round if they have not reported to the college and their documents are with Comed-K.
