Medical students to take National exam: Central govt
Bengaluru: The Union Government has come up with a new scheme to regulate medical admissions in the country. The exit exam, as it is called, has received unanimous approval from the Medical Council of India (MCI).
This follows the centre’s defeat in the Supreme Court, over the implementation of the NEET. All students who complete their MBBS must appear for the exit exam at the end of their study, to be allowed to move on to higher studies and also begin their medical practices.
Sources at the union health ministry say the proposed exit exam will be the part of series of reforms proposed to improve the quality of medical education in the country. The all-India exam will be online. "A team of experts have already submitted the report and it may be implemented as soon as this academic year, as a government notification will suffice," said an officer.
"MCI has already extended its support and a final decision will be taken at the earliest. This new exam will prevent non-eligible candidates from Post Graduate studies and from taking up a practice which will have direct affect on the health of the common man,” he said.
A senior officer said the exit exam was first proposed in 2009, soon after UPA II started functioning. "It was part of overall reforms proposed by the union government. As we could not implement NEET, this new exist exam will definitely improve the system. It will discourage non-merit students from doing the course by paying crores and clean up the PG admission process," he added.
“All medical universities in the country are facing allegations of corruption. A national level exit exam is a clear solution and we hope for the scheme to be implemented at the earliest,” said an officer from the State’s health department.
this is realy good effort

ReplyDeleteI feel its kind of ridiculous that after attending numerous internal exams and four university exams in 17 huge subjects which were valued by two examiners simultaneously in the case of my university , a medical student has to write another exam to practise...why not make doctors write exams every year..lets see the MCI support that..the government cannot clean up the admission process..so punish the students who take up this profession so that nobody will take this up anymore...way to go government and MCI

ReplyDeleteWe are not going to become guinea pigs for the sake of some incompetent politicians ego .you bloody morons, leave the system as it is.you guys only have screwed up by introducing so much reservation.dont complain about merit now.
ReplyDeletewhy exit exam? Dont you have faith on the doctors taking the final MBBS exam of variuos medical colleges. Better will be strangthen the study course, strangthen the examination procedure. Why after passing this 4 and half year of study and another year of internship we have to appear for another exam then what is the meaning of that final MBBS part 2 exam. If you people think this will through out those inelligible students, then why not you are making them stop at final MBBS part 2 exam????
ReplyDeletei always was in support of neet, but even more i opposes that exit exam.
ReplyDeleteadmit only meritoripus students in medical stream & abolish all this reservation crap(sc,st,obc & what not). The standard of the MBBS doctors will automatically improve & then there is no need for such ridiculous ideas like exit test........anil
ReplyDeleteMCI and Central Government should set up a body like CBSE for schools.
ReplyDeleteIt will be good both for doctors and society.
Only issue is corruption. How do you keep this body free of corruption?
