UP govt to recruit 5,500 doctors
LUCKNOW: In a bid to strengthen medical services in the state and ensure adequate availability of doctors at various health centres, the Uttar Pradesh government would be recruiting 5,500 new doctors through the public service commission. A proposal for this has been sent to commission. The government is also mulling to directly recruit doctors after accepting applications from them.

State medicine, health and family welfare minister Ahmed Hasan on Friday said that paramedical staff, nurse, midwife and vacant posts of other workers would soon be filled. "In order to ensure the presence of doctors at various hospitals and health centres, the doctors would have to submit the daily list of patients they have examined and surgeries performed to the controlling authority by the 5th of every monthwhich should be forwarded to director general, health by 10th of every month

," Hasan said. tnnThe doctors who fail to submit information to the controlling authority by 5th of every month would face disciplinary action.

He added that doctors are not filling the OPD registers and daily diary on a regular basis, and lamented that senior officials too are not evincing much interest in this regard, as no review has been done. The minister also pointed out that many doctors remain absent from their place of posting for prolonged period without any valid reason. "Despite this, officials do not provide information on this account," the minister said and added that all the doctors have to compulsorily fill the diary on a daily basis.
