Wait for NEET 2013 results gets longer -THE NEW INDIAN EXPRESS 11.19 AM TODAY

Wait for NEET 2013 results gets longer

Doctors and medical students who have written several post-graduate entrance tests will have to wait till the end of the month for the Supreme Court order on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2013 as the results will be announced only after that.
Several students are facing anxious moments as the Supreme Court had clearly instructed in December last year that the results of the entrance tests conducted by the states across the country cannot be announced until further orders.
Dr Shweta Kumar, who has written Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) PG entrance test and other tests for PG courses, complained: “Most students and practising doctors have written entrance tests but without the results being announced, we do not know how to proceed. Last year around this time, the admission process was started in many colleges as the results were announced.”
Dr Anil Kumar, a private practioner who have written PG entrance tests,  said: “The competition is very tough as there are thousands of students against a skewed number of PG seats. There is no clarity on the number of seats that will be allocated for a state, even if the SC instructs that NEET scores have to be accepted. The whole idea of a national single entrance for PG has definitely caused a lot of confusion and delay.”
Talking about the RGUHS PGET, Dr G Venkatesh, director of Directorate of Medical Education said: “As the results are announced, the answer keys of the entrance test has to be put up for students reference. Time has to be given for students to challenge the answers keys and the challenge has to be reviewed. The final list has to announced later and interview cards sent to candidates.” He said it will take over a month to conclude the admission process and with the SC order to complete it within the stipulated time frame, it was a huge task.
The SC had instructed the Medical Council of India to complete the admissions process for PG courses by May 31 while the last date for admissions of MBBS and BDS is July 31.
